If you were one of 20,000 lucky fans at the Secret Solstice Festival in Iceland on Friday, then you would have been lucky enough to witness the live debut of three new Foo Fighters songs. However, you would’ve also been lucky enough to witness the live debut of another Grohl on the drums; Dave’s eight-year-old daughter Harper.

Fresh from playing a snippet of Queen’s ‘Another One Bites The Dust’, Dave Grohl and co. announced a special guest was joining them on stage. “About two weeks ago, my daughter said ‘Daddy, I want to play the drums’,” Grohl explained. “And I said, ‘Do you want want me to teach you?’ She said, ‘Yes.’ And then I said, ‘Do you want to get up in front of 20,000 people in Iceland and play?’ And she said, ‘Yes.'”

Welcoming her to the stage, Taylor Hawkins took a brief leave of absence to free up the drumkit and man the microphone instead, before Harper, Dave and the rest of the band went into a brief performance of Queen’s ‘We Will Rock You’, described as the first song that Harper had learnt on the drums. “Ladies and gentleman, welcome the next generation; there’s another Grohl on the drum set now,” Dave made sure to add.

We’ve got to say, this is pretty adorable, and with a bit more practice, we wouldn’t exactly be adverse to Harper taking over from Taylor Hawkins if the need arose.
