If you didn’t already know, earlier this year Dave Grohl released a documentary following his recording of the insane 23 minute long PLAY. Now the Foo Fighters frontman has announced he will be playing the track live “with friends”.

Whilst the “friends” helping him out with the live rendition of PLAY are yet to be announced, we do know the performance will take place as part of Warren Hayes’ Christmas Jam on December 8 in North Carolina. On the original track, Grohl played every instrument.

It was recently announced that Dave Grohl would auction off equipment used by him to make the track in an effort to raise money for young musicians and their education. The track is also available in a limited vinyl release here.

Grohl is currently finishing up a massive North American tour with Foo Fighters, recent months have also seen him reunite with his Nirvana bandmate Kirst Novoselic on stage. He’s also performed at charity events with his daughters, and a backyard political fundraiser with Beck.
