Even now, two years on from David Bowie’s passing, fans still consider the event a rather shocking, unexpected loss for the world of music. Of course, while Bowie kept his fatal cancer diagnosis from the world in his last months, it appears he knew all about his eventual death close to 40 years prior, according to his longtime keyboardist Mike Garson.

As Billboard reports, Garson, who is in the process of releasing an updated version of his 2015 biography, Bowie’s Piano Man: The Life of Mike Garson, revealed that a psychic told David Bowie of his January 2016 passing decades before it occurred.

“(The psychic) told him he was going to die exactly when he died,” Mike Garson admitted. “There are a lot of psychics who are out of their minds and full of it, but this one was real. David knew it and didn’t doubt it for a second.”

“He told me about (the reading) with certainty, accepted it and planned his future out based on that. He had 30, 40 years to plan out his life.”

Of course, while this may seem like a load of nonsense to many, it’s worth remembering the almost-perfect way in which David Bowie’s final album was released. Recorded in the early months of 2015, Blackstar was intended to be released as a “parting gift” from Bowie to his fans. As it turned out, the album was released only two days prior to his death, shocking fans, and serving as the final gift that he had intended it to.

Of course, if you’re interested in following along with the life of the late musician, Bowie’s son Duncan Jones recently launched a book club which intends to read through the favourite books of his famous father. They’ve apparently just finished up with book #1, so now’s the time to get involved!
