After becoming an increasingly-open secret in recent weeks and months, Download Festival looks to finally be making its way to Australia in 2018, as its Australian website goes live.

As Music Feeds reports, the website went up this morning, after the domain name was purchased by touring company Live Nation in 2016, and now the page is finally live, announcing “Download Festival Australia” will be coming to  “Melborne” [sic] in 2018.

So, while they might not exactly know what our cities are called, we won’t be complaining when the festival makes its local debut next year, filling the gap left by some of our big-name festivals like Soundwave.

Download Festival will apparently be presented by local touring partners UNIFIED and Secret Sounds, but no other info has been given, aside from the chance to sign up to a mailing list for further updates.

Recently, former Soundwave staff predicted that the announcement would be made around this time, and they proved to be 100% right.

We’ve reached out to Live Nation and other partners for comment.
