Noted Paralympian and triple j presenter Dylan Alcott has once again proved himself as one of the most outspoken supporters of Australians with disabilities, announcing the lineup for the inaugural Ability Fest.

Kicking off at the Coburg Velodrome in Melbourne on April 7th (yes, the same Coburg Velodrome that The Smith Street Band are hosting their inaugural Pool Party festival in), Ability Fest is aiming to raise money for the Dylan Alcott Foundation, which is supporting young Aussies with disabilities.

The first edition of the (hopefully recurring) festival sees some huge names, including Tkay Maidza, Boo Seeka, Kingswood, Japanese Wallpaper, Jack River, and Ivan Ooze on the bill, as well a huge back-to-back DJ set from Client Liaison and Flight Facilities – something you’re not likely to get anywhere else any time soon.

Held in a fully accessible venue, AUSLAN translators will be available onstage during the acts performing on the main stage, while there will also be a number of viewing platforms for attendees in wheelchairs. Understandably, this fest aims to put an end to all the inaccessible aspects of the average music festival – something that Alcott, a noted festival-goer, would have witnessed countless times.

Tickets to the inaugural Ability Fest are set to go on sale soon, but if you head to the Ability Fest website, you can register for the pre-sale, which will allow you to be one of the first to score tickets to this stunning festival.
