September is truly the football-lover’s favourite time of the year. It’s when the finals are well underway, and we’re getting closer to finding out just who is going to take home the flag when the Grand Final rolls around. Now, with the AFL Grand Final a matter of days away, a whole bunch of your favourite musicians are set to gather at Melbourne’s Gasometer Hotel to play a bunch of footy anthems this evening.
For The Jumper 2017 is a night full of fun and music that will see a veritable A-grade team of Aussie musos taking to the stage to perform odes to their favourite footy songs.
Just some of the big names hitting the field tonight will be Fraser Gorman, Alex Gow (Oh Mercy), Dave Mudie (Courtney Barnett), Dan Luscombe (The Drones), Mark Wilson (JET), Pat Bourke (Dallas Crane), and comedian Aaron Gocs. Needless to say, this going to be the music and sports lover’s dream.
First bounce is at 7:30pm this evening, with the running order of events being based upon the AFL footy ladder. While Port Adelaide and GWS Giants are having a bye round, the finale between the Adelaide Crows and Richmond Tigers will be decided by way of a coin toss. Whether this coin toss will have any bearing on Saturday afternoon’s results remains to be seen.
Of course, if you can’t make it to tonight’s event, be sure to catch the AFL Grand Final on Saturday afternoon, even if it’s only to watch The Killers perform as the halftime entertainment. Or if you’re lucky enough to be in the area, head on down to the Melbourne Cricket Ground to see the legendary group play a free afterparty performance.
Tickets to For The Jumper are on sale now, and all proceeds are set to go to the Victorian Aboriginal Child Care Agency, so you can rest assured knowing that your evening will be all part of a good cause.
