Well, this one has come as a shock this morning, as Foo Fighters announce they’re heading to the Oxford Art Factory in Sydney tonight for a one-off surprise show, playing as their covers band ‘Chevy Metal’.

While the rest of the Foo Fighters aren’t involved, Dave Grohl and Taylor Hawkins will be there, as will fellow Chevy Metal players Brent Woods (Sebastian Bach) and Wiley Hodgen (The Birds of Satan), as they churn through a bunch of covers from AC/DC, The Rolling Stones, Queen and the like.

It’s not the first time we’ve seen them pull this sort of thing, having played another Aussie set with Chevy Metal on the Gold Coast back in 2015, and with Hawkins and Grohl currently in Oz to plug new record Concrete and Gold, it’s an awesome bonus.

No idea how long they’ll play for, but considering their recent Lollapalooza after party show went for over three hours, and that the non-Foos members have flown out especially for the occasion, we’re hoping for a big one.

Tickets go on sale at 1pm sharp from the venue today, so get down there if you can to snag yours – and remember, there’s only one per person, so you’ll need to take your whole crew down for the pick-up.

Foo Fighters haven’t announced any proper Aussie tour dates just yet, but with the record on its way, we expect we’ll be seeing them again very soon. Otherwise, you might want to make the trip to their very own rock festival they’re launching this year, with QOTSA and Liam Gallagher on the bill.
