Despite being in one of the modern era’s most successful rock bands, it’s good to see Taylor Hawkin’s has maintained a certain level of humility. We mean, after hanging around renowned nice guy Dave Grohl for as long as he has, we’re sure the aura of down-to-earth-ness has really begun to rub off.

In an interview with Digitial Music News to promote the bands latest release Concrete And Gold, Hawkins revealed just what its like to lead the lavish rock star life he does, detailing how his maintained his roots by driving the same truck he own way back in high school.

“I still have my truck from high school, too,” Hawkins let drop. “It’s an ’86, red Toyota 4×4.” Although Dave might come off as the most easy-going superstar on the planet, it’s been previously revealed that he’s rolling around, blasting AC/DC in his $135,000 Tesla P100D. Maybe it’s been Hawkins all along who’s pushed for the ‘nice guy’ perception….

“It goes 0-60 in 2.4 seconds,” Grohl said of his all-electric luxury ride. “It’s the fastest car I’ve ever been in, in my entire life… And I’m sure when people see me driving it, they’re like, ‘Wow, Dave Grohl is a fucking asshole.'”

Hawkins has said he’s adopted the ‘anti-rockstar mentality’ and prefers to be referred to as solely a ‘musician’, stating, “I don’t waste my time thinking about how I could make more when I already got enough. I’m not a banker, I’m a musician.”

The Foo-ies are heading down for a huge Australian tour next week, you can suss the tour dates here (even though you probably got your tickets a while back).
