When humanity eventually faulters, we’ll be remembered for our many triumphs, saddening tragedies and some other-worldly failures. Fyre Festival, will surely go down as both an epic tale of broken dreams, blind ambition – a total cultural zeitgeist for millennials everywhere.

As you all know, Fyre was marketed as a once in a lifetime, “luxury” festival experience, boasting a lineup that featured the likes of Major Lazer and blink-182. The exclusive experience quickly turned pear-shaped, descending into a dystopian-esque nightmare that seemed to be punishing the ultra-privileged millennial digital influencers who bought into the advertised fun.

Now, in new documents obtained by the Post, it’s been revealed that organiser Billy McFarlane’s blew a hefty sum of their budget on a yacht priced at  $160,000. Blink pulled out of the festival soon before it’s commencement, saying that they wouldn’t have what they needed to perform – but hey, they’d be covered if they wanted to take a boat out on the bay!

The documents also reveal a total of $18,208 was spent on towels, and $260,000 on carpet for a ‘tent city’, which cost around $470,000 – all spent on a festival that failed to deliver running water for punters when they arrived on site.

The Post described McFarlane as a “millennial gone wild”, adding that “there was gross mismanagement and a general misunderstanding of how events like this unfold and that purchases weren’t being vetted”.

He’s set to appear in court this week, where he has pled not guilty to attempting to defraud his investors.
