According to reports, Amy Winehouse’s family now believe that going cold turkey on alcohol may have been too much of a shock to her body, resulting in a seizure that ultimately killed her. Family sources tell The Sun that Amy ignored advice from her doctors to slowly cut down her heavy drinking.

During her eulogy Mitch Winehouse dismissed rumours that the ‘Rehab’ singer went on a drug and alcohol binge for 72 hours, saying her boyfriend and manager actually believed the opposite to be true.

A source close to the family says “‘He said doctors had told Amy to gradually reduce her intake of alcohol and to avoid bingeing at all costs. Amy told him she couldn’t do that. It was all or nothing and she gave up completely. ‘Mitch said the shock of giving up, after everything she had been through over a bad few years, was just too much for her to take”

The autopsy came up inconclusive earlier this week on the exact cause of death and we won’t know for weeks the results of toxicology tests. However if it is proven that going straight contributed in any way to Amy’s death it will make her passing all the more tragic.
