The Good Ship are proud to announce the release of their second album “O’ Exquisite Corpse”, a work of dark, sweaty, heaving beauty, featuring the band’s trademark blend of sweet melodies and debauched lyrics. The Good Ship have created an album steeped in rich harmonies and lush instrumentation, all the while retaining the shambolic glory of their live show.

Two years have passed since their debut album “Avast! Wretched Sea”, a work that saw them snag a legion of dedicated fans, play to packed houses around the country, rack up over 100,000 YouTube views, and perform at major festivals including Woodford and Brisbane Festival. With “O’ Exquisite Corpse” the band expands upon their sea shanty roots and explores new territory; although there’s still enough porn and pirate to satisfy their hardcore fans.

The new album was produced by the band in conjunction with Neil Coombe at The White Room Studios, whose credits include DZ Deathrays, The Go Betweens and the John Steel Singers. It was a difficult and somewhat messy birth, with much of the recording done in loungerooms and bedrooms across Brisbane, before being masterfully brought together by Neil. The result is 11 songs that range from sugary pop to rollicking country to the darkest balladry. The overwhelmingly dark themes of death, murder, prostitution and the supernatural are tempered by snippets of humour and light.

The first single off the album, “Seven Seas”, received widespread airplay and was a favourite on Rage. Single number two “Powder Monkey” is available for free download now and the album will be released in July 2012 through Autumn Recordings and MGM.

If they can manage to avoid being sued by Chris Brown and/or the residents of NSW country town Grenfell, The Good Ship will be hitting the road throughout July/August to show off their new album. Catch them at:
