Grinspoon did pretty okay when they released their debut album 20 long years ago, but it seems that people are in a nostalgic mood right now, with the new deluxe edition currently charging its way to the top of the ARIA charts – and on track to do even better this time around than it did back then.

As The Music reports, the ARIA chart midweek report has the album on track to hit the top five, as opposed to the #11 peak it managed in 1997.

A big national tour, a spot at the State of Origin, and frontman Phil Jamieson’s appearance in the Green Day musical have probably all helped to bring the record back to the front of people’s minds, not to mention the typically entertaining interviews Phil’s been giving.

“Do we really have to glorify it because it’s old, and even if it is old shouldn’t it just be good?” he asked us in a recent interview. “If something 15 years old was crap… it shouldn’t be revered all of a sudden.”

“I don’t care how old you are – I just turned 40, but that doesn’t mean shit,” he added. “If Guide to Better Living was a bag of dicks, there’s no way I’d even think about doing a 20th anniversary for it.”

Clearly, plenty of people don’t believe that the album is at all a bag of dicks, and are more than happy to pick up a fresh copy, having probably left their original cassette in the glovebox of the Corolla they sold a decade ago.

The tour’s just kicked off, so check out the dates below.
