When your resumé contains some amazing highlights that include being one of the pioneers of grunge and sludge metal, and being one of Kurt Cobain’s favourite bands, what’s your next move? How do you continue your legacy in such a way that will continue to not only break new ground, but also keep pleasing that fanbase you’ve accrued over the years? Well, if you’re the Melvins, you go and host Rage!

That’s right, if you’re accustomed to spending your Saturday evenings in front of the TV, letting some of music’s finest performers help guide your music taste for another week, then you’re going to be treated to a hard-rocking onslaught as the Melvins curate the playlist for the evening.

Recorded while the band was in the country for their recent tour to celebrate the release of their first double album, A Walk With Love & Death, the band has picked some pretty amazing tunes for your musical night in.

The official Rage website states that the band have chosen tunes by the likes of Judas Priest, David Bowie, and KISS, in addition to some Aussie acts such as You Am I, and Hoodoo Gurus. In their promo video for this week’s appearance, the band also confirmed they’ve got a few other classic Aussie acts up their sleeves, including The Angels and The Birthday Party. Needless to say, it’s going to be one heck of an evening.

Singer Buzz Osborne, drummer Dale Crover, and bassist Steven Shane McDonald will be taking up residence on the famous red couch this Saturday at 10am, and again as 12:10am that night (or morning, depending on how you classify your partying schedule), so be sure to set your alarms and VCRs, and settle in for a pretty sweet evening of great tunes.
