Hockey Dad were forced to cancel last night’s performance at Brisbane’s Woolly Mammoth following “structural issues” with the venue, but have today announced a rescheduled performance for those affected by last night’s cancellation.
Currently in Brisbane as part of their sold-out Blend Inn album launch tour, Hockey Dad performed at the Woolly Mammoth on Saturday night, and were due to perform there again last night, on Sunday, March 18th. However, following their under 18s matinee performance yesterday afternoon, the group were forced to cancel both the evening’s performance, as well as tonight’s scheduled gig.
Organisers for the Woolly Mammoth took to Facebook to explain the situation, noting that they had “decided to cancel tonight’s show despite it being fully certified to hold more capacity then we had in the room, due to concerns over patrons’ safety.”
“We won’t risk it if there’s even slightest chance of damage, hence why we’re getting the engineers again tonight, to reinforce the structure, and make it 100% safe going forward,” the continued, as attendees of the under 18s show posted videos of what appears to be a support beam dangerously shaking as the crowd continued to mosh.
Hockey Dad also took to Facebook, explaining their decision by citing “unforeseen structural issues” as the reason for the cancellation. However, the duo did promise that they would have further details coming today in regards to tonight’s scheduled performance at the venue.
Ahead of the band’s final performance at the Woolly Mammoth tonight, Hockey Dad have announced that they have upgraded the venue to The Tivoli, turning last night’s cancelled performance and tonight’s scheduled performance into “one huge event.” 500 extra tickets have also been made available to this evening’s previously sold-out gig.
The group have confirmed that all tickets to last night’s performance will be valid for tonight, while details on refunds for those who can’t attend are still incoming. Check out the rescheduled dates below, in addition to the remaining dates on Hockey Dad’s Blend Inn album launch tour.
