Fans in Sydney of Janet Jackson were left high and dry after the singer cancelled her performance at the Sydney Opera House a mere hour before she was due to go on stage. Ticket holders were not notified of the cancellation and most found out when they arrived at the venue only to be told that the concert would not be going ahead.

A statement issued on behalf of local promoter Paul Dainty sent around last night said “It is with regret that Dainty Group announces that tonight’s Janet Jackson Number Ones: Up Close and Personal concert, at the Sydney Opera House, cannot proceed.”

It continued “Doctors have ordered Miss Jackson to undertake vocal rest for the next 2 days, so she can complete the 3rd and final show of her Australian tour, this Tuesday night at the Sydney Opera House. Unfortunately, there will not be a replacement concert scheduled, so all patrons will receive a full refund at the Sydney Opera House Box office tonight or from the point of purchase.”

It isn’t the first problem to hit the extremely popular tour. Janet was forced to amalgamate her Melbourne theatre shows into one stadium show so she could return to the United States early due to the ongoing trial into the death of her brother Michael Jackson.

Disappointed ticket holders rushed to the singers Facebook page and flooded it with a mix of supportive and angry comments. One fan wrote “How rude and unprofessional to cancel one hour before and not reschedule the show. I have been a fan since the Control album, but after this she can go to hell. Sick my arse, if she really was ordered to rest her voice she would have known much much earlier. What a slap in the face to those who are still supporting her when she no longer has success. I say what a rude unprofessional bitch who has just lost a big fan.”

Another wrote “I hope you get better soon Janet but the only thing I am SO UPSET about is that I had to arrive 20 mins before the show started & had to be told be a security guard that the show was Cancelled. I did didn’t receive any notification from the organizer by SMS or Email that the show was cancelled & luckily I only live 10 mins away but I feel for the people who had traveled far to come to see the show. VERY POOR Communication from the ticket promoters”

Ticket holders can contact the Sydney Opera House Box Office on 02 9250 7777 for refund information.
