Sure we’ve heard about you before, but we think it’s time for Tone Deaf to get to know you a little better. Slip in to something comfortable while we put on some music, pour us a couple of drinks and turn the lights down low. So, tell us about yourselves…Who are you – who who? We really wanna know….

Who are you and what do you do in your act?

I am the lead singer and one of the guitarists

‘Fess up. What records have you stolen from your parents’ record collection and why?

Almost all of them. My parents were hippies so I was lucky to inherit everything from Bob Dylan to the whole Black Sabbath collection…plus all their Led Zep albums……there were a few weird ones I don’t listen to like my dad’s Marty Robbins albums.

What’s on heavy rotation on your iPod right now?

Was right into ‘The Music’ for a while but at the moment have gone back to radio head, Jeff Buckley and Amy Winehouse.

‘Home taping is killing the music business’ was the catch-cry of the record industry in the 1970s and 1980s, but it managed to survive until now. What do you think is the difference between mates taping copies of friend’s records back in the 80s and 90s and file sharing now?

I don’t think there is really any problem with file sharing so long as there is a balance. I think technology has changed a lot but really there’s not much difference. Probably the biggest problem I have noticed with the industry is the lack of smaller venues for new bands to play in…I also think its harder these days to get people to go to shows which is really sad.

You must answer this question honestly or we steal your rider. What was the first gig you went to? Where was it and what was the venue?

I went to a lot of crazy hippy gigs when I was a kid but my first big concert was U2 at the entertainment centre when I was 12… They had B.B King on the bill and it was a great night.

What’s your favourite site to download music from and do you ever pay for it? Can we find any of your releases there?

To be honest with you I am not much of a downloader…I still like buying C.Ds .Call me old fashion but I like have them on my shelf just like books.

What artist made you want to pick up an instrument and/or sing?

Definitely, Pink Floyd. I was right into them when I started playing.

Have you ever been arrested?

Hahahahah No! But I have been to court….that as much as you’ll get out of me .

Do you have any particular ritual before you go on stage, or even a lucky charm you take with you?

I like to take of minute to sit by myself and clear my head. No lucky charm though. Usually a couple of beers does the trick and takes the edge of the old nerves.

Supposing you were to be playing sold out stadiums on your next tour, what outrageous rider requests would you submit?

Clothes, socks, shoes, and other house hold items

Because it’s more fun to do things together, which living Australian artist would you most like to collaborate with? Tell us why?

I have a lot of very talented friends so they would be my first choice. Bands like Raprager and a friend of mine called Mary-Jane Guirney are at the top of my list. They are all very talented and it would be great to learn something new from people I respect as artists.

Right, let’s get really intimate. Tell us what releases you have that we can listen to with the lights down low, or even better, where we can see you play in person next. Naturally, don’t forget to give us the link to your Facebook fan page too.

Our latest release is our self titled album released on 2nd of September.
