While plenty of folks are starting to wonder about who is going to be performing at this year’s AFL Grand Final, fans of a different sport are gearing up to hear some good old-fashioned rock music later this month, with Melbourne rockers Jet confirmed to perform at State Of Origin’s Game II.

Last night saw Canberra party-starters (and triple j One Night Stand headliners) Peking Duk perform at the State Of Origin match in Melbourne. While a few sport fans found the performance to be rather lacklustre, others have begun looking forward to Game II, which is set to be held in a few weeks.

“Jet are proven performers and their high-energy set will lend itself perfectly to Origin,” explained NRL Chief Commercial Officer Andrew Abdo. “We’ve got a great show planned for this unique Sunday night Origin timeslot.”

“We’ve played in front of this sort of crowd before but this will be different,” noted Jet frontman Nic Cester. “It’s a whole different atmosphere and we’re really looking forward to it. It’s such a huge scale.”

While Jet, who are currently on tour for the 15th anniversary of the breakthrough debut, Get Born, are set to perform a few of their classic hits on the night, they’ll to be joined by the likes of The Rubens and Kingswood as well, giving rock fans plenty to look forward to.

It all kicks off on Sunday, June 24th, so if you’re keen on heading along to this month’s State Of Origin II, head over to Ticketek to grab your tickets.
