Holy moly, straight out of the What The Fuck? Department comes the news that Kanye West, currently out in Australia to play Splendour In The Grass, might have brought his buddy Jay-Z out with him and god forbid, they’re supposedly recording with Russell Crowe. Clearly never having watched Youtube clips of Rusty ‘performing’ with his band 30 Odd Foot Of Grunt, which aurally resembles the sound of a couple of possums fighting, they are apparently holed up in a mansion recording. According to London’s trashy tabloid The Sun, who as usual quote an anonymous source, “Russell went to see them at the mansion they are renting, which has a studio, and stayed for their recording session.”

Here’s where the veracity of the story is quite dubious, however, as the anonymous source describes Russell as a ‘musician’. They say “Jay-Z and Kanye played him a few tracks from their new album and Russell – being a musician himself – loved it. He even earned himself a mention on one of their songs. He was buzzing about the experience afterwards.” The two hip hop superstars are clearly being very tolerant of Rusty’s squawks, but this does lead to the very concerning possibility that Rusty may join Kanye on stage at Splendour In The Grass this weekend. You’re advised to bring your earplugs and other hearing protection devices if you’re heading up this weekend just in case.
