We’ve seen some pretty wild mashups in the past, but we think that nothing can compare to the majesty that is the Kendrick Lamar and A-ha joint, ‘Take On Backseat Mashup’.

Posted online yesterday, this fresh new mashup combines Kendrick Lamar’s 2012 single ‘Backseat Freestyle’ with A-ha’s 1984 classic ‘Take On Me’. While a rather inventive mashup might combine elements of both songs interplaying with each other in some inventive way, this one is one of the more simple, yet effective ones.

Overlaying Kendrick’s loose vocals onto the jaunty upbeat pop number that truly put Norway on the map, ‘Take On Backseat Mashup’ works so well, even though your gut tells you that it shouldn’t.

“I’ve either made a great discovery or a terrible mistake,” explained Twitter user Noah Charlick as he shared a video of the mashup, before posting it online for the world to hear.

We reckon he might have made a pretty amazing discovery, because this is one we won’t be able to get out of our heads for quite a while.
