Following rumours that KISS are getting ready to call it quits after one big blow-out, the legendary rockers are reportedly set to embark on a multi-year world tour in January of 2019.

Back in 2000, KISS began what was supposed to be their final tour before they would break up, with the tour serving as a way to “put KISS out of its misery”. Following 142 shows over the course of 13 months, the band played their last show in Canberra in March of 2001, before announcing in 2002 that they weren’t actually retiring.

Back in February, we noted how a US trademark application had been made under KISS’ name for the phrase ‘The End Of The Road,’ indicating that Gene Simmons’ previous comments about the band breaking up may have been right on the money. This was soon followed up by Simmons confirming that “There will be [a farewell tour] at some point,” before admitting that “We can’t keep doing this forever.”

“We are the hardest-working band in show business,” he explained. “If [Mick] Jagger stepped into my Dragon Boots he couldn’t last a half hour.”

Now, while over in Sweden on tour, Gene Simmons has confirmed that KISS are set to embark on a huge tour at the start of next year which will see them tour all over the world for a few years.

“It will be a three year long tour starting in January 2019,” Simmons explained to Sweden’s Expressen newspaper. “It will be our most spectacular tour ever.”

While Simmons, who is set to perform in Australia this August (with Ace Frehley in tow), noted that the band are set to tour on “all continents”, he did say that he can’t tell us just where exactly the band will be performing at this stage.

While it remains to be seen whether or not this will be the long-awaited farewell tour that the band have been hinting at, it’s certainly one hell of a way to go out. After all, with Elton John also announcing a three-year farewell tour, it seems as though this might just be par for the course.

Whatever the case, it looks like you can expect a KISS concert on Aussie shores sometime between January 2019 and 2022. Here’s hoping for sooner rather than later!
