It’s been a whirlwind last couple of months for indie singing sensation Lana Del Rey who has shot to stardom since the music video for song Video Games went viral last year, notching up just over 17 million views at the time of writing. The song went on to reach the top 10 in eight different countries, peaking at number 75 on the ARIA charts here in Australia.

Her hauntingly beautiful song has also proved popular with the fashion crowd with ‘Video Games’ being featured during the shows for both both Christopher Kane and Emilio de la Morena during London Fashion Week. She took it one step further when designers Moschino and Prabal Gurung styled her and she performed at Mulberry’s Spring/Summer 2012 presentation.

Now the fashion industry wants to claim her as one of their own with the 25-year-old singing a modelling contact with Next Model Management, who look after modelling heavy-weights Abbey Lee Kershaw, Arizona Muze, Karlie Kloss and Anja Rubik, just to name a few.

According the Billboard, Del Rey has been places in Next Model’s ‘talent’ wing and will be joining the likes of Alexa Chung who has her own fashion TV show and Alice Dellal who is the new face of Chanel. Don’t be surprised if the young beauty soon starts gracing magazine pages around the world for some of the world’s biggest designers.

The runaway success of Del Rey, who recently sold out her Melbourne and Sydney shows in under two minutes, comes despite the singer only releasing one single thus far. Her debut album is due out January 30.
