The Laneway Festival is less than six months away, and people have been doing a bit of detective work to see who we might be able to expect on the line up. Usually on the money blogger, the anonymous Miss Info reckons that we can expect to see Twin Shadow, Laura Marling, Wild Beasts, The Horrors and Sonic Youth front man Thurston Moore on the bill.

That would generally make sense as we’ve heard from other sources that Thurston was slotted in for a visit this year but had been snaffled by a festival and you would think that he’s not quite a Big Day Out act. We can also look at some of the bills Laneway Festival has had on in other parts of the world for a few clues to possible acts for the event in February next year.

The recent Field Day event in London had a stage curated by the Laneway Festival and that line up featured The Horrors,  Matthew Dear, James Blake,  Connan Mockasin, 2.54, The History of Apple Pie and DJ sets from the likes of  Jon Hopkins and Vampire Weekend’s Chris Baio. The festival’s South By Southwest stage in March of this year featured locals The Holidays, Cloud Control and The Jezabels in addition to hot to trot LA band Foster The People, soul sensation Jamie Woon, Royal Bangs and Twin Shadow.

We can expect an announcement for the festival sometime in October.

Update 10th October 2011: The official announcement has now been made. Check out the lineup here
