Great news for anyone who can’t manage (for whatever strange reason) to make it to Laneway Festival 2018, or maybe just wants to double up on their favourite headliner, as Mc DeMarco, The Internet, Slowdive and Loyle Carner have all announced sideshows in Sydney and Melbourne next January.
London rapper Carner has been in the ascendancy for a little while now, having already played his first Australian dates earlier this year, while The Internet of course blew us away at Laneway just a couple of years back. This time around, their show will see each member of the band take to the stage on their own to play solo and band material, making for a nice accompaniment to the festival set.
Mac DeMarco has also been a Laneway regular, and a local favourite too, with his third album This Old Dog copping the triple j Feature Album spot earlier this year, as he gears up to release his next record with The Flaming Lips’ Wayne Coyne.
Better yet, DeMarco will be teaming up with local larrikin Kirin J Callinan, while some of the most exciting news comes as U.K. shoegaze pioneers Slowdive return from their two-decade hiatus to play their first ever Australian shows, having released their fourth album earlier this year.
Billie Eilish, Dream Wife and others will also be playing sideshows, so check out the hype reel below, and full details at the Laneway website.
