Let’s face it, in the music world the Gallagher brothers are undoubtedly some of the biggest grumps imaginable. Now, proving that Christmas doesn’t exactly make either of them much more charitable and loving, Liam Gallagher has used the opportunity to wish the former frontman of The Smiths a “miserable Christmas”.

In the last few months, both Noel and Liam Gallagher have been up to their usual tricks, with Noel admitting he wasn’t planning on getting Liam a Christmas present this year (because this is of course the sort of info that we were hanging out for). “Well, Liam’s been benefiting from my genius for a long time, think he’s going to do with that again this year,” he was quoted as saying.

Despite this, under a week later, Liam Gallagher took to Twitter to sum up 2017, admitting that he had made up with Noel and that they were “all good” again. Of course, Liam was quick to stamp out any rumours of an Oasis reunion, stating “God no, no. Oasis isn’t getting back together, not at all. I’m doing my thing, [Noel’s] doing his thing and that is the end of it.”

Sadly though, Liam’s repaired relationship with Noel didn’t make him any more emotional and loving it seems, as his Twitter feed seems to indicate.

As NME reports, Liam recently took to Twitter to inexplicably share a seemingly purposefully antagonistic Tweet that simply read, “Miserable Xmas to morrisey as you were LG x”.

Of course, folks were quick to rip into Liam, includng actor David Morrissey who noted the correct spelling of his name to Liam, before thanking him for the message.

Strangely, Liam Gallagher’s Twitter feed then descended into a constant outpouring of lyrics from The Smiths, indicating that maybe Liam was actually being nice when he offered famed miserabilist Morrissey his Christmas wishes. However, soon after Liam finished posting lyrics from The Smiths, he quickly moved onto quoting lyrics from the Happy Mondays, so there’s no word yet as to whether or not Shaun Ryder got his Christmas wishes from Liam.

So while it’s hard to tell whether this is a case of Liam being up to his old tricks, or just a tongue-in-cheek approach to his love of The Smiths, the former Oasis frontman is set to hit up Australia in only a matter of days for appearances at this year’s Falls Festival, with some sideshows as well, so maybe someone could go and ask him?

As you were.
