Festival season is approaching so it’s that time of the year when we start taking bets at Tone Deaf HQ about the likelihood of festivals and line ups that are announced actually happening. This one popped up online yesterday and it’s, well frankly, rather odd. A new festival promoter named 300 Entertainment has popped up with a rather fancy website containing some terrible copywriting and plans for a dance festival that will take place in those hotbeds of dance culture;, Townsville, Cairns and Ipswich in Queensland, as well as Sydney and Perth.  For some reason it appears Melbourne doesn’t need another dance festival.

In addition to all your favourite Aussie doof DJs, the line up of Ultra Session Beats 300 includes Detroit techno legend Kevin Saunderson, old skool rave faves such as Joey Negro, Seb Fontaine and Kosheen and the poptastic pair of Wynter Gordon and Alexis Jordan. Curiously, they’ll be joined by rapper Kid Cudi, Grime master Wiley, who walked out of his last Australian tour, and most perplexing of all, rapper ‘Lil Wayne.

Now a debut ‘Lil Wayne Australian tour would be cool, but considering he’s just gotten out of jail where he was banged up for a year on weapons possession charges we wish the promoters luck in securing him a visa from the Immigration Department. However, it looks like there’s no need for us to be suss on the likelihood of this event happening, because according to the promoter’s website, first release tickets which cost $126+ booking fee are “Sold Out”.

Ultra Session Beats 300 dates:
Saturday 22nd October – Reid Park, Townsville
Sunday 23rd October – Ipswich Showgrounds
Saturday 29th October – Cairns Showgrounds
Sunday 30th October – Eastern Creek, Sydney
Saturday 5th November – TBA, Perth
