Myles Kennedy has given fans an update on the status of Slash’s next solo effort in a recent radio interview with WRIF. Kennedy confirmed that the record was “in the can” and that fans could expect a follow up to 2014’s World On Fire later on this year.

“We just finished a record. Actually, I just finished my vocals for that last week, so there’s another record in the can. And it’ll probably come out later this year.”

Slash revealed in a statement earlier this year that he was exicted about the new material he’d been working on with his long time collabortors, noting that he believes the band had hit their “creative stride”

“I’m excited about the new stuff we put together for this next record; it’s got some cool songs and it’s got a great live feel. I’ve been working with Myles, Brent and Todd for about eight years now.

“It’s been an amazing ride so far; as a band we continue to get better which is great. With the addition of Frank since the ‘World on Fire’ tour, I feel we have hit a great, creative stride which I definitely think shows on this next record.

He also shared that although he does enjoy performing with Guns N’ Roses again, however playing with Myles Kennedy and the Conspirators feels like “being in a new band” with an already sparking chemistry.

“I’m looking over and seeing Axl, Duff and Dizzy whom I’ve known forever, but it also feels like an entirely new experience with Richard, Frank and Melissa. It’s like being in a new band, except there’s a chemistry that is established from days of old, so it’s a natural thing that’s always been there.”

Earlier this week, rumours of an Appetite For Destruction era Guns N’ Roses reunion began to circulate, as billboards featuring the bands original lineup began to pop up over the globe.
