We all know the struggle of catching public transport. It can be unreliable, slow, crowded, and if you’re Violent Soho, it can almost make you miss your own gig. But if you’re acclaimed Aussie rapper Illy, well, it might just the best way to make it to your gig this Saturday night.

Recently, a Facebook user by the name of ‘Shades McCarthy’ decided to create an event in anticipation of Illy’s gig in Frankston, Victoria this Saturday night. Titled “Riding the Frankston line train to the ILLY gig this Saturday!“, the event does what it says on the tin, and is encouraging other concertgoers to get together to make the trip to the gig just as memorable as the performance itself.

“What’s up everyone! Thought I’d make this little event for my mates in the city who are going to see our mate Illy play this Saturday in Frankston, will be dope vibes for the hometown show,” the event description begins. “Jump on the second carriage on the 7:08 from Flinders street gets into Frankston at 8:12.”

Now, it seems as though the event has caught the attention of Illy himself, who looks to be planning to catch the train with the partygoers. Illy shared a post to Facebook showing a text conversation which portrays his interest in catching up with the other attendees on their way to the gig.

Of course, some fans of Illy would already be aware of his affinity with the Frankston line, having mentioned it in a number of his songs, including ‘Guess I Could’ from The Chase. Other musicians, including Jay-Z, have famously caught the train to their own gigs before, so who knows, maybe this could see Illy starting a trend for Aussie musos to connect with their fans on the way to their gigs.

So if you’re heading to Illy’s gig in Frankston this Saturday night, be sure to catch the train there, because it looks like there’s going to plenty of likeminded punters on the train with you. Plus, there’s a pretty strong chance you might just run into Illy while you’re riding in style.
