They’re back. Thought you could escape their evil clutches? Well think again because they’re just getting warmed up. Yes, the collaboration between Lou Reed and Metallica, or as we like to call it Loutallica, have just released their debut music video for single ‘The View’ off their album Lulu.

The video is directed by Darren Aronofsky, the Oscar-nominated director behind ‘The Wrestler’ and ‘Black Swan,’ who upon hearing the record reportedly couldn’t wait to make the video.

“The first time I heard ‘The View,’ I was stunned,” said Aronofsky in a press release. “I had never heard anything like it. Half was all Lou. The other half all Metallica. It was a marriage that on the surface made no sense, but the fusion changed the way I thought about both artists and morphed into something completely fresh and new.”

Known for disturbing imagery, we supposed the Aronoksky can now add disturbing audio to his list too. The clip starts off pretty innocently before becoming increasingly disorientating, which is kind of funny because that’s exactly how we felt the first time we heard the record.

“I feel Darren understood the power and range of the emotions fueled by the fire of Metallica,” Lou Reed said. “His strength and spirit are on display in every frame and I think he has caught the anger, rage and anguish at the bottom of the soul of real rock.”
