On October 14th, a website called Huzlers reported that Machine Gun Kelly had died of an overdose. The substance in question… Ligma.

I found out via a Facebook post from someone I don’t even know how I know. A part of me thought this may have been a hoax, but all the Who Magazine’s I subjected myself to as a kid left me needing to know more.

A quick google revealed that it was a group of mischievous meme makers who spread the fake death story online. The culprits posed as reporters from fake social media accounts and claimed that MGK overdosed on a fictional drug called Ligma (aka, Ligma Balls).

Hot New Hip Hop reported that the fake accounts were run by Eminem fans who were salty at Machine Gun Kelly following the feud between the two rappers. The beef was sparked back in 2012 when Machine Gun Kelly referred to Eminem’s then-underage daughter as being “hot as fuck” – which is yuck as hell.

The beef was then escalated with the release of Eminem’s record Kamikaze. In which Eminem disses MGK in his track “Not Alike”:

But next time you don’t gotta use Tech N9ne if you wanna come at me with a sub-machine gun
And I’m talking to you but you already know who the fuck you are, Kelly
I don’t use sublims and sure as fuck don’t sneak-diss

To which Machine Gun Kelly responded with his diss track “Rap Devil”: Trying to be the old you so bad you Stan yourself

Anyway, this is all incredibly stupid but also a bit of fun. No rapper has succumb to Ligma disease so I guess that’s all that matters.
