For years, there has been bad blood between Marilyn Manson and Nine Inch Nails frontman Trent Reznor, but now a new interview with Manson indicates that the two may have buried the hatchet, and now best buds again.

When the band Marilyn Manson formed back in the early ’90s, they caught the eye of Trent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails. Impressed with the group, Reznor signed them to his Nothing Records label, and would even produce a number of the group’s early records.

However, as the ’90s wore on, cracks began to form in the relationship between Trent Reznor and the group’s frontman. Following the release of Antichrist Superstar in 1996, which Reznor co-produced, their friendship had all but deteriorated. There are varying reports of what caused their relationship to end, but Manson has long-stated that it was due to his belief that Reznor had destroyed the master tapes for Antichrist Superstar.

However, in a recent interview on The Howard Stern Show, Manson has explained how the pair’s friendship has now been mended. “[Trent] ran into [Marilyn Manson band member] Tyler Bates at some thing regarding scoring, because he had done the Facebook movie—which I thought was an amazing score. And Tyler Bates was doing the Guardians Of The Galaxy, I think, the first one,” Manson said.

“And he told me that Trent wanted to get in contact with me and gave me his number and I talked to him and he told me that he had the masters still. Which made me very happy, but the anger was gone.”

As Consequence Of Sound notes, according to a recent interview with Zane Lowe on Beats 1 Radio, Marilyn Manson and Trent Reznor have also discussed collaborating again in the future, stating that they  have “been speaking about things. I don’t know what will happen. I would love to, yeah.”

During his discussion with Howard Stern, Marilyn Manson also discussed his relationship with Justin Bieber, noting that the two have also patched things up, following an incident in which Justin Bieber claimed that he made Manson relevant again.

During the interview, Manson showed Howard Stern a series of texts he had received from Justin Bieber. “Bro it’s Bieber, what’s up with this article? I thought we had a pretty pleasant interaction,” texted Bieber. “Also if anything wasn’t squared away with the t-shirts, I’m so sorry. Anyway, regardless, it kinda stung seeing that I came off as an asshole, or even just was an asshole. I’m sorry?”

According to Manson, he responded by shrugging it off and saying “You were just being you, no beef here”. However, during his interview with Howard Stern, Manson noted that his response “could mean, ‘You were just being an asshole.'”

So while it seems as though Marilyn Manson is now in a more peaceful mood, and could even be working on some new music with Trent Reznor in the future, his music thankfully doesn’t seem to have lost any of its trademark anger and ferocity.

Manson’s tenth record, Heaven Upside Down, is due out in a matter of weeks, check out the album’s lead single, “We Know Where You Fucking Live,’ below.
