As the Prince of Darkness, we’re sure the shortlist of places Marilyn Manson has found himself banned in the past isn’t lacking. Never afraid to raise a few eyebrows, the enduring folk-devil announced over Twitter and Instagram this morning that he’d be making an appearance at Coachella this upcoming weekend.

The alt-metal superstar announced that he’d be taking to the stage with Japanese metal band X Japan during their set, saying on Twitter,“I never thought I would play at a festival I was banned from. But… Yoshiki invited me to join the stage with XJAPAN. You don’t want to miss this one.”

It has never been announced as to why Manson was banned from Coachella, or whether that claim is actually true. Manson was apparently invited to perform with the band by the group’s drummer who extended the invitation.

X Japan are a legendary speed and power metal band who formed in the early 80s and are known for their eclectic live show and eccentric appearance so we’re sure whatever Manson brings to the table will amplify those elements ten-fold.
