We’d like to know a little bit about you for our files, but we don’t like regurgitating press releases or asking the easy questions. At Tone Deaf we only ask the tough questions, so just hold still, grit your teeth, clench your buttocks and be still while we put on the rubber gloves, apply the thumbscrews, and pull out our thermometer while you open up and say ahhhhhhhhhhh… Truthful answers only or we drink your rider while you’re on stage.

Who gets the most ‘off stage action’ in the band? What’s the secret to their success?
I can only speculate on this, as they are all shacked up, but I do see some wide grins from Cuff our drummer at mid week rehearsals. I would definitely put it down to his chops and affection for a Sade song or two.

Have you ever been arrested? Where were you, and what was it for?
Yes I have. I was in country queensland, Gatton, where they have a live sheep with a plastic side, on Acid climbing grain silos with my girl friend and her ex. My Dad was a local cop, and two of his best friends came and arrested me, about 30mins after the acid had started it’s effect. It was a pretty heavy scene all round.

What’s been the worst day job you’ve ever had?
Selling goddamn mobile phones and contracts for Optus on Chapel st in Prahran. Its like someone taking daily bites from your good soul. Horrendous.

Sex, drugs and groupies – In what order do you prefer them and how often?

Sex – Drugs – Groupies.
Sex is necessary to think straight, explaining why I’ve been a little haywire recently.
Drugs are great in moderation, can be as good as a holiday.
Groupies – what is this?

Take us back to the first gig you went to. Where was it and what was the venue?
Lenny Kravitz, Are You Gonna Go My Way tour, ’92. Brisbane Entertainment. It was incredible, a really amazing jam band, smoking for hours.

What’s your favourite site to download music from and do you ever pay for it? Can we find any of your releases there?
I have never downloaded a song in my life. Wouldn’t know how to. I have somebody coming over next week to show me how to use the VCR machine, I got Top Gun out. Our Drummer Cuff has set the new single up for free downlowd at
http://music.mattsonicandthehightimes.com/ don’t ask me how this works. It’s magic.

What’s the furtherest you’d go to win over a new fan?
Southern Tasmania.

Right, now that you’ve virtually admitted in public that you’re actually not very cool, here’s your chance to plug your upcoming gigs and releases. – go for it.
We are looking forward to releasing our debut single at Ding Dong next Friday night, the 12th of November. It’s on, big time.
