Jangle-rock outfit Crepes impressed the whole Melbourne scene two years ago with their debut EP Cold Summers, and we’ve seen more of those cold, Crepes-less seasons drift by as we’ve waited for their follow-up.

The wait is over though, with ‘Sexyland’ giving us the first taste of what we can expect from their forthcoming debut album, due later this year. So far, we’ve got a warm dose of slide guitar draped over a chugging rhythm; in keeping with their earlier sound but ever-so-slightly more cheerful than previous favourites like ‘Ain’t Horrible’.

Premiered today on triple j, the new one was mixed by Jarvis Taveniere of Woods and Mild High Club, and mastered by Joseph Carra, who boasts production credits on everyone from Eddy Current Suppression Ring to Courtney Barnett.

In addition to new music, we also score a gig, with the band giving the track a live launch at their hometown haunt of The Tote on Friday July 14.
