Brisbane rockers The Mercy Beat are set to release their second single, ‘Fishbowl’, in a matter of months, and the new song looks to follow in the successful footsteps of the band’s genre-bending lead single ‘Sex Funeral’.

‘Fishbowl’ is “a song about coming to the shattering realisation that your salad days are behind you, and that perhaps the bottle is not only a big part of your problems but also a reliable friend – offering comfort, company and solution,” according to the three-piece. The track has been masterfully produced at the Melbourne studio of one Tom Larkin (Shihad, High Tension, Calling All Cars), and is the second in The Mercy Beat’s three-part A-single campaign.

One for fans of hook-laden rock and roll, ‘Fishbowl’ is certain to find broad appeal as it lands its punches – killer riffs, driving rhythm, a chorus you’ll sing to, vocal harmonie – with infectious and reliable energy.

The film clip for ‘Fishbowl’ is up now on YouTube (and you can view below) with the single getting an official release on June 14th 2013, and will be made available as a free download exclusively through Triple J Unearthed ahead of its official release.

To help launch their new single and stretch their land legs, The Mercy Beat are headed out on an extensive East Coast tour in June and July, rolling through three capital cities and regional towns in NSW and QLD.
