The Vaccines were one of the biggest hyped bands in the UK back in 2009. Living up the hype, the London quartet have been touring relentlessly off the back of their short, sharp and catchy second pop rock album ‘Come Of Age’ out in Australia now through Sony.

Recently frontman Justin Young took some time out from their busy touring schedule to be the first band to program our mixtape!  Thankfully he has great taste in music with tracks from The Magnetic Fields, Neutral Milk Hotel, Big Star, Wings Desendents and more….

Make sure you listen right to the end as we’ve slipped one of their tracks ‘No Hope’.

Enjoy!

BIG STAR – THE BALLAD OF EL GOODO

This song keeps me company on the road. a tragedy this isn’t in more peoples’ collection.

BOB LIND – GO ASK YOUR MAN

Sounds best when you have a crush.

BOBBY FULLER FOUR – I FOUGHT THE LAW

Aside from being a great song, it embodies everything rock n roll should be. simple, fun, youthful and dangerous.

WINGS – ANOTHER DAY

If you don’t like wings, but you like the beatles, you should listen to this song.

DESCENDENTS – PARENTS

This spoke to me as a 15 year old. i found my way into punk music through it.

BEACHWOOD SPARKS – SILVER MORNING AFTER

Sometimes you can’t explain these things

THE MAGNETIC FIELDS – CALIFORNIA GIRLS

A brilliant take on the wonder that are california girls

NEUTRAL MILK HOTEL – HOLLAND, 1945

We always listen to this before we play a show. beautiful melody and so intense.

SPIRITUALIZED – LADIES AND GENTLEMEN WE ARE FLOATING INTO SPACE

A beautiful song from a beautiful record.

VOID – WHO ARE YOU?

My favourite hardcore song.

THE VACCINES – NO HOPE

The first single from the new album ‘Come Of Age’, ‘No Hope’ is certainly a anthem for those in their mid 20’s struggling with the thought of becoming an adult. Justin Young’s lyrics are raw and honest, backed by rolling drums, a pounding bass line and catchy pop punk guitar. A definite indie dance floor filler!  Catch them this New Years at Falls Festival in Lorne and Marion Bay.
