It was a night of nights at the MTV Video Music Awards, with Beyoncé dropping a bombshell announcing that she was pregnant on the red carpet, while Lady Gaga performed in drag as her male alter ego Jo Calderone, joined by special guest Brian May of Queen.

Held at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles, the awards were hosted by Disney actress and entertainer Selena Gomez, with a tributes to fallen pop princess Britney Spears that saw seemingly a dozen Britney clones on stage. Gomez kissed her boyfriend Justin Bieber on stage and immediately broke a million thcweaming girls hearts, while Katy Perry took out the video of the year for her song ‘Firework’.

Other notable winners included Odd Future Wolfgang Kill Them All’s Tyler, The Creator for Best New Artist while Foo Fighters picked up best rock video for ‘Walk’. Predictable Lady Gaga picked up Best Female Video for ‘Born This Way’ while Justin Bieber didn’t let down his Beliebers, taking out ‘Best Male Video’.
