If you’re a fan of one of the most globally popular Aussie musos in recent years, Courtney Barnett, then it’ll probably please you to know that there are some pretty promising signs that we’re set to get some new music from her rather soon.

Following the release of her debut record, Sometimes I Sit And Think, And Sometimes I Just Sit, almost three years ago, Barnett has been touring the world relentlessly, and even found time to hit the studio and record a new collaborative record, Lotta Sea Lice, with US musician Kurt Vile last year.

Then, last November, Courtney Barnett spoke to Beats 1 host Zane Lowe where she confirmed that she was “trying to come up with a title for my new album.” “It’s all one sentence thoughts, you know trying to come up with something clever,” she said.

“It’s well, I mean, maybe I gave too much away but it’s getting close.”

Now, as triple j reports, it looks like an announcement of new music is pretty imminent.

Taking to Twitter earlier this morning, Courtney shared a short video which seems to show her trying out a few different instruments while road testing some new lyrics as well. While it doesn’t show too much in the way of fully-formed songs, these snippets definitely show that Courtney is well and truly up to her old tricks.

The video ends with a snippet of a new studio track while the words ‘Tell me how you really feel’ are splashed on the screen, along with the address for her website. Visitors to the site are met with a text box in which they are invited to “Tell me how you really feel”, and just so happens to be located beneath a date which reads February 15th.

Considering that today is February 13th, maybe this means we’ll be getting some news on fresh tunes on Thursday? Whatever the case, we’re definitely excited to be seeing one of Australia’s most refreshing talents at it again.
