Palms Australian Tour 2013

Sydney band Palms release their debut record Step Brothers today, an album that delivers “straight up rock from ex-Red Riders members, driven by memorable melodies and honest lyrics,” as our Tone Deaf reviewer wrote of the album. Palms was formed by Al Griggs (vocals, guitars, writing of songs) and Tom Wallace (drums, vocals) after their former collective Red Riders disbanded in 2011. Al and Tom began recording some tunes in the kitchen of Owen Penglis (Straight Arrows, Royal Headache), and before long they had a record, Step Brothers. Dion (guitar) and Brendan (bass) were recruited to round out the spunky quartet.

In celebration of the album, Palms will soon embark on an East Coast tour (see dates below). Tickets are on sale now!

Making the long trip across the pond, the band will be playing headline shows in both Sydney and Melbourne this October. The band’s unique brand of jangle-rock has seen them compared to the likes of Morrissey and the Jesus and Mary Chain, but they transcend those influences with their knack for a tune and a killer live show.
