Despite being frontrunners for most ‘industry insiders’ for a few months now, Big Day Out HQ have let us in on a few hints before their blockbuster announcement of the 2012 lineup tomorrow evening and Friday morning that appear to rule out Radiohead as the headline for next years event.

The bombshell dropped last night on the official Big Day Out Facebook page said that “There are no headliners on the 2012 BDO that start with an R!”. This would rule out both Radiohead and Red Hot Chili Peppers who were both hot favourites.

Fans who had been following the supposed ‘Big Day Out Spy’ were outraged by this announcement, taking to Facebook to vent their frustrations saying ‘No headliners starting with R means you are full of shit!’.

The official announcement will begin at 8pm AEST tomorrow night (Thursday 28th Sep), and the three headline artists will be announced live on triple j the next morning. Odds have shortened now on Arcade Fire, Beastie Boys, or Soundgarden to headline but the only confirmed appearance so far is from Kasabian.

Others rumoured to be on the lineup include Cake, Florence & The Machine, My Chemical Romance, System Of A Down, Josh Pyke, and The Decemberists.

We take a look at the most memorable, both great and sad, moments in the 20 year history of Big Day Out. Check it out here.
