While Melbourne-based rapper 360 is making in-roads in America with a recent tour of the United States and recently being added to the Lollapalooza 2013 lineup, its another Melbourne emcee that’s beaten him to the punch for a historic first.

Seth Sentry became the first Australian rapper to perform on a US talk show last week, when he was the guest act on Jimmy Kimmel Live! performing two popular songs from his debut album This Was Tomorrow; ‘Float Away’ and ‘Dear Science’, in which the rapper laments technology’s inability to provide hoverboards yet (you can view the performance in the banner).

Seth Sentry’s appearance on Kimmel follows a string of major successes in the US, including scoring a coveted support slot on LL Cool J’s upcoming US Tour, featuring hip hop icons Public Enemy, Ice Cube, and Doug E. The Melbourne artist won the slot after claiming victory at the Doritos Bold competition at industry event SXSW 2013.

The fan-voted competition saw Seth Sentry claiming the most audience votes over two other performers, winning him a slot on LL Cool J’s Authentic Tour of the US in June/July, as well as the performance slot on Jimmy Kimmel’s network talk show. Seth Sentry became the first Australian rapper to perform on a US talk show last week, when he was the guest act on Jimmy Kimmel Live!

The late-night TV slot, broadcast to an American audience in the millions, is obviously a major boon for Seth Sentry’s career; after all, it was another US-storming artist that began their American invasion with a slot on the very same show a little over a year ago.

Gotye’s rise to Grammy-winning glory and US chart domination came courtesy of a string of American TV appearances, all starting with his debut appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live early in 2012. The rest, as they say, is history.

Seth Sentry hasn’t forgotten his Australian fans though, having returned from his American TV performance the Melbourne rapper is set to head out on his biggest national tour this May, heading out for the Dear Science Tour playing capital cities around the country.

He’s also back in time to join The Rubens, Flume, and Ball Park Music as part of the lineup for Triple J’s One Night Stand in Dubbo this Saturday 13th April. Seth Sentry is also continuing his regional appearances as part of the lineup for the 2013 Groovin’ The Moo in April/May, which has already sold out in Maitland and Bendigo (after just 48 hours), thanks to the strength of its lineup.

Thanks to MusicNSW, the rapper is also offering the chance to go one-on-one with fans in a songwriting workshop ahead of Groovin The Moo.
