From the ‘best reason for canning a gig EVER’ Department comes the news that Kings of Leon were forced to abandon a gig in St Louis, Missouri over the weekend after they were covered in pigeon shit. Pigeons had congregated in huge numbers in the rafters of the Verizon Amphitheatre where they proceeded to do what pigeons do best and told Kings of Leon what they thought of them, forcing the band to walk off stage after only three songs.

Band spokesman Andy Mendelsohn said in a statement “Jared [Followill] was hit several times during the first two songs. On the third song, when he was hit in the cheek and some of it landed near his mouth, they couldn’t deal any longer. It’s not only disgusting it’s a toxic health hazard. They really tried to hang in there.”

The band were alerted to the issue by the sorry state of the support bands as they came off stage, but decided to attempt to play in spite of the shit storm awaiting them. “The Kings of Leon decided to carry on regardless,” the statement continued. “ The band felt it would be unfair to the fans to cancel the show at that late moment. We couldn’t believe what [support bands] The Postelles and The Stills looked like after their sets,” Followill said. “We didn’t want to cancel the show, so we went for it. We tried to play. It was ridiculous.”
