You know something’s a bit skew whiff in the world when the Conservative British Prime Minister, David Cameron, is on the record as being a big fan of Manchester indie legends The Smiths. It’s also no surprise that this has displeased the band who entitled their magnum opus The Queen Is Dead. The band’s guitar legend, who now plays with Modest Mouse and The Cribs, has made his feelings very clear on Twitter. He wrote “David Cameron, stop saying that you like The Smiths, no you don’t. I forbid you to like it.” Many Radiohead fans were also aghast when the then opposition leader appeared on the BBC’s Desert Island Discs program in 2006 to play the band’s ‘Fake Plastic Trees’.
