Money, it’s a gas
Grab that cash with both hands
And make a stash

Pink Floyd have managed to grab the cash with both hands after an appeal by EMI was quashed in the UK High Court over a decision by a judge which ensured the band’s classic albums could only be sold in full by download.

Pink Floyd had argued that the albums must be sold in full to preserve the artistic vision of the band and to retain a higher royalty rate. The band’s contract was signed with the label back in the 90s and then only applied to CDs and vinyl, while EMI wanted to sell single songs from them on iTunes.

The judges agreed with the lower court’s ruling that the contract language wasn’t “so commercially nonsensical that the parties could not have intended it.”. Read the decision in full here.
