Alana Skyring, drummer for Brisvegas poptastic threesome The Grates has quit the band. She’s apparently developed a passion for all things culinary, and is leaving to focus on her studies at the Manhattan Institute of Culinary Education in New York City. The band are currently recording a new album in the Big Apple and although the band insist the parting of ways was amicable, they have announced no permanent replacement yet, suggesting they will use a series of fill in drummers for future recording and touring. The statement from the band says:

To our fans & friends,

With heavy hearts we announce that Alana Skyring, cutest drummer in rock, has left our band to pursue the culinary arts (or in other words, to become the cutest baker in baking). We wish her the very best of luck. John & I will continue on as the Grates & have whole bunch of new songs to share with you very soon. We’re in the process of recording them all now, in Brooklyn NY, and can’t wait to bring them back home.Thank you Alana, our friend, for everything. And thank you to our fans and friends for all your support and love over the past few years. Happy 2011, let’s make it great.

The Grates.
xoxo
