After releasing an album last week which most pundits believe is average at best, The Strokes have revealed that they’re about to start working on a new long player. After front man Julian Casablancas hinted that the band would be recording a follow up to their latest effort Angles, much quicker than the five year wait between their last albums, bassist Nikolai Frature as revealed that they’re going to be putting their nose back to the grindstone sooner rather than later.

He says “We were just talking about when we would get back together and start writing for the next album,” he reckoned. “It should be soon. April, mid-April.” Fraiture is also rather nonplussed about the criticism that’s been heaped on Angles, saying  that he likes the album being rather in accessible. “I love that it takes a few listens,” he declared. “After a five-year break, we didn’t want to do something that’s like, ‘Oh, I get it after one listen!'”
