The iconic album cover for Nirvana’s seminal album ‘Nevermind’ was recently banned from Facebook for violating the site’s Terms Of Use. The cover, featuring a naked baby boy chasing a dollar bill underwater, was uploaded the the social media site in preparation for the album’s 20th anniversary reissue.

Facebook rigorously enforce their rules on the site frequently banning images that fall foul of the following statement: ‘Facebook does not allow photos that attack an individual or group, or that contain nudity, drug use, violence or other violations of the Terms of Use.’

The album cover is probably one of the most recognisable in the world and is regularly spoofed including famously by The Simpsons. The boy in the photo is now in his twenties and in interviews has stated that he doesn’t mind the whole world seeing him in his birthday suit.

However Facebook eventually saw the light, perhaps from pressure by Universal Music Group, and the photo now appears in all its glory across the social network.

The Nevermind 20th anniversay reissue will be released on 27th September 2011 featuring a full remastered version of the original record along with a collection of demos, B-sides, live renditions and remixes across four CDs and a DVD.
