Rock N Roll’s coolest bloke and all round nice guy Dave Grohl has kindly filled the drumming position at the last minute for Cage The Elephant who are supporting Foo Fighters around the United States. Cage The Elephant’s drummer Jared Champion had to be rushed to hospital on Monday after his appendix burst, forcing him to pull out of this weeks shows.

However Cage The Elephant’s guitarist Lincoln Parrish says that as soon as Grohl heard about Champion he volunteered to fill in. Parrish told Spin, “Dave somehow heard what had happened and called our tour manager. He said, ‘Hey, so do you think the guys would go for it?’ Our manager was like, ‘Um, yeah!!!'”

When asked what it was like to play with Grohl, who famously was the drummer for Nirvana, Parrish replied “I had to pinch myself. I turned around and Dave Grohl is playing the drums. It’s an amazing, once-in-a-lifetime experience. Nobody can replace Jared. But it’s Dave fucking Grohl. If you’re going to be replaced by anybody, it might as well be the best.”

Foo Fighters tour Australia in November/December, whilst Cage The Elephant tour Australia next year as part of the Big Day Out 2012
