The Big Day Out has joined many music fans and music industry businesses in making a donation to relief funds in flood ravaged Queensland. Despite the devastation further north in the State, organisers say the Queensland event on the Gold Coast will occur as planned. They’ve also chipped in $20,000 to assist with relief efforts in the flood disaster.

In a statement, organisers said “Queensland and Brisbane are currently facing continuing devastating flooding and are in a “State of Disaster” and the thoughts of everyone at the Big Day Out go out to the Queensland population and our audience members in this time of challenge. We hope the worst passes soon.”

However, despite the dramatic flooding, organisers say the sold out show in the Gold Coast Parklands location will go ahead. They say “The site build commenced on schedule this morning (Wednesday) and while certain elements and deliveries will need to be resourced and redirected due to road closures, the essential elements for the show are now being moved into place and we are commencing to build the show as usual.”
