Following on from the earlier announcement that Deerhoof would be headlining Sugar Mountain festival in Melbourne, comes news that the band will also be touring so fans across the country will get a chance to see them. Touring in January 2012, Deerhoof will be bringing their jaw-dropping, through-the-roof-high-energy live show to Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth, as well as the festival appearance in Melbourne. No sideshows in Melbourne have been announced.

Deerhoof last planned to tour Australia in 2010 as part of their appearance at The Lost Weekend festival in Brisbane. However that festival suffered setbacks with licensing forcing it to move venues, and ultimately when ticket sales failed to meet demand the entire festival was cancelled. The band played shows in Sydney and Melbourne as planned.

Described by Pitchfork as “the best band in the world”, Deerhoof made some of the most difficult and unclassifiable noise of the mid-nineties, before unexpectedly rising to international prominence as one of indie rock’s most renowned and influential group. Their eleventh full length album Deerhoof vs Evil was released earlier this year.
