Former Oasis mastermind Noel Gallagher has held a press conference in London to announce that he’ll be releasing his debut solo album in October. Recorded and produced with famed knob twiddler Dave Sardy who also twiddled Jet’s knobs, the long player will be released on October 17th through his own Sour Mash label.

Entitled High Flying Birds, the record’s personnel includes former Oasis and Rachel Stamp keys player Mike Rowe, along with Yank session musos who have also played alongside The Rolling Stones, Stevie Wonder and Elton John.

The much anticipated solo debut by Gallagher – who was seen as the core of the stadium conquering Oasis – is set to be compared to the release of his estranged brother Liam’s latest album. Liam Gallagher’s new band Beady Eye are not ashamed of their ‘worst band name in the world’ tag, and seemed to not be bothered by the fact that their debut album barely bothered the lower reaches of the charts.

Noel is set to hit the road to launch the album in the next few months, and despite launching his own Facebook, Twitter, Youtube and Myspace pages – detail of the tour are yet to be forthcoming. Check out the tracklisting for High Flying Birds:

‘(I Wanna Live In A Dream In My) Record Machine’
‘AKA…What A Life!’
